Journey kicked off its 2026 ‘The Final Frontier Tour’ on February 28 in Hershey, Pennsylvania, marking a significant chapter for the legendary rock band. The tour is set to conclude on November 28, 2026, in San Francisco, California, a city deeply connected to the band’s origins.
Multiple sources, including statements from band members, have described ‘The Final Frontier Tour’ as either a ‘farewell tour’ or a ‘possible final tour.’ Keyboardist Jonathan Cain has stated that this tour will be his last with Journey, and his future plans remain undecided. Founding member and lead guitarist Neal Schon views the tour as ‘a farewell to one powerful chapter’ of Journey, though he has expressed his personal intention to continue making music and exploring new creative avenues.
Adding to its significance, the 2026 tour also commemorates Journey’s 50th anniversary. The band has planned a “very different show” for this tour, promising longer sets and a deeper exploration of their catalog from 1978 onward. In preparation, the band sought fan input on song choices for the performances.
The current touring lineup includes Neal Schon on lead guitar, Arnel Pineda on lead vocals, Jonathan Cain on keyboards, Deen Castronovo on drums, and Todd Jensen on bass. Prior to the tour, rumors circulated about former lead singer Steve Perry rejoining the band for the 2026 dates. However, Perry himself publicly refuted these claims, confirming they were “simply not true” and that he is currently engaged in new creative projects.
Despite the prevailing ‘farewell’ narrative surrounding ‘The Final Frontier Tour,’ Neal Schon had previously mentioned booking approximately 120 shows, with some potentially extending into 2027. Nevertheless, the band has not officially confirmed any dates beyond the current tour’s scheduled conclusion in November 2026.
