Actor Brad Pitt has taken on an executive producer role for the forthcoming documentary, ‘From Inside Out – The Architecture of Peter Zumthor.’ The film, a 14-year endeavor by German filmmaker Wim Wenders in collaboration with the architect, explores the works and architectural philosophy of the Swiss Pritzker Prize laureate Peter Zumthor. The documentary is scheduled to premiere next month, in September 2026, at the Venice Film Festival.
Pitt’s involvement, which includes an executive producer credit, is described as a reflection of his personal support and admiration for both Zumthor and Wenders. Notably, Pitt does not hold a financial stake in the film, and his production company, Plan B, was not involved in the project. The documentary will feature a ‘Brad Pitt presents’ credit at its opening.
This collaboration underscores Pitt’s long-standing appreciation for Zumthor’s work. The actor was a vocal proponent of Zumthor’s design for the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) building, having spoken at a decisive hearing in 2019. This LACMA project, now known as the David Geffen Galleries, was completed in 2025 and is prominently featured in the documentary.
The 3D production is designed to offer an immersive experience of Zumthor’s architectural spaces. Beyond the LACMA project, the film showcases a range of his notable works, including the Therme Vals spa in Switzerland, the Kolumba Museum in Cologne, the Steilneset Memorial in Norway, and the Bruder Klaus Field Chapel in Germany. The documentary also explores Zumthor’s uncompleted project for the Topography of Terror museum in Berlin, which was abandoned due to cost overruns. Additionally, the forthcoming Wyss Building for the Fondation Beyeler, expected to be unveiled near Basel later in 2026, will be featured.
‘From Inside Out – The Architecture of Peter Zumthor’ is a production by Wenders’ Road Movies and DCM. HanWay Films is responsible for handling the worldwide sales of the documentary.
