Michael Louis Diamond, known professionally as Mike D and a founding member of the iconic American hip-hop group Beastie Boys, has released his debut solo album, titled “Thank You.” The album, released on August 28, 2026, through Capitol Records, marks a significant moment for fans.
“Thank You” represents the first full-length solo effort by any former Beastie Boys member since the group disbanded in 2012 following the death of Adam “MCA” Yauch. Mike D collaborated on the album with his sons, Davis and Skyler Diamond; the tracks reportedly evolved from informal sessions in his home studio.
Diamond’s career includes a foundational role in the Beastie Boys, whose debut studio album, “Licensed to Ill,” was released on November 15, 1986. That landmark record, released by Def Jam and Columbia Records, achieved historic success, becoming the first rap LP to top the Billboard 200 chart and one of Columbia Records’ fastest-selling debut records.
