Rapper and acclaimed producer Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson is set to executive produce a television adaptation of the popular heist shooter video game franchise, ‘Payday’. This venture sees Jackson’s production company, G-Unit Film & Television, co-producing the series alongside Vice Studios and Starbreeze Entertainment, the developers behind the ‘Payday’ games.
Jackson has expressed his ambition for the project, aiming to create ‘a high-energy franchise that pushes the heist genre forward’. His involvement, reported in August 2026, followed the initial announcement of the adaptation in March 2026. Given his track record, particularly with the successful ‘Power’ series, 50 Cent brings significant experience in producing compelling crime dramas to this new ‘Payday’ endeavor.
The ‘Payday’ game franchise has garnered a community of over 50 million players, which centers on masked criminals undertaking elaborate heists. However, the adaptation is currently in early development, meaning that specifics such as a screenwriter, cast members, a release date, or a streaming platform have yet to be confirmed.
Starbreeze Entertainment CEO Adolf Kristjansson highlighted the strategic importance of this collaboration, emphasizing the goal to do ‘the franchise justice’ and not ‘play it safe’ with 50 Cent and G-Unit. This television series is part of a broader strategy by Starbreeze to expand the ‘Payday’ franchise into a comprehensive ‘heist universe’ across all forms of entertainment.
It’s worth noting that the ‘Payday’ game franchise has faced recent challenges, particularly following the 2023 release of ‘Payday 3’, which encountered technical issues and content shortages.
